#1 Spectrum Customized For Chickens
As early as 2009, several founders of Langtuo Technology cooperated with Zhejiang University to start research on the spectrum of LED lighting farming.
“Chickens are more likely to be excited under the lighting of ordinary energy-saving lamps. If the breeding density is high, if the light is not well controlled, there will be pecking and fighting among each other. Once a chicken has a wound, it will make other chickens more nervous. Excitement, which in turn triggers more serious pecking fights, resulting in severe mortality.” Jiang Jinsong said.
Another consequence of pecking and fighting is that the dust in the dusty chicken coop is more serious, and it is easy to induce respiratory diseases in chickens, which is also an important cause of chicken death.
Because the spectrum of LED lights can be modulated, after experimenting with countless lights, Langtuo’s team found that under the illumination of a specific LED spectrum, the chickens have reasonable exercise habits, but they are in a peaceful and happy mood, which rarely happens. Fighting, there will be no more “restlessness” in the chicken coop. By the way, the dust in the chicken house is reduced, the environment is improved, and the chickens live more comfortably and harmoniously.
Langto’s team then developed a systematic lighting strategy. “Chicken have different needs for light in different breeding periods. We integrate the lighting strategy that meets its needs into a control system. For example, before dimming the light, it was up to the breeder to manually change the light bulb. , now it is enough to operate directly in the control terminal, which also improves labor efficiency.”
After one or two years of experiments in the farms in Tianjin, Langtuo’s team found that after using LED light sources, each batch of chickens had stronger resistance than the original chickens, and the mortality rate dropped by more than 2 percentage points. Originally higher.

The energy saving of LED lamps is well known. To achieve the same lighting brightness, the power required by LED lamps is only about one-third of that of energy-saving lamps. For example, if a 15-watt energy-saving lamp is replaced with an LED lamp, it only needs about 5 watts. In terms of service life, the average service life of LED lights is 40,000-50,000 hours, while that of energy-saving lamps is only 6,000-8,000 hours.
“An ordinary energy-saving lamp is about 15 yuan, while an LED lamp is around 40 yuan. The initial investment is large, which is why there are not many LED lights used in farms at present.” Jiang Jinsong said.
However, Jiang Jinsong did some calculations. A 1,500-square-meter chicken coop will probably need to install more than 130 lights. If LED lights are installed, it will cost 40 yuan per light, and the overall lighting investment will be more than 5,000 yuan. If you use ordinary energy-saving lamps, the price is around 2,000 yuan. However, due to the short life of energy-saving lamps, it takes about 40 days to raise a group of white-feathered chickens, and about 30 bulbs need to be replaced. After a year, the cost of LED lamps is actually equal to that of energy-saving lamps in terms of saved electricity bills and bulb costs. From the second year onwards, the saved electricity bill is equal to the previous cost savings.
“Through research, we have designed a mode that better conforms to the circadian rhythm of chickens. Now most chicken farms have about 20 hours of lighting a day, and we can control it to 18 hours, which also saves factory led lighting costs accordingly. .” Jiang Jinsong said.
#3 Subdivision Is The Inevitable Trend Of LED Industry
In the past few years, LED was once a sunrise industry that many people were optimistic about, but because of the blind rush, the industry was quickly overwhelmed, and many LED companies had a hard time.
“At present, there are not many domestic companies that are truly competitive.” Jiang Jinsong said: “The most upstream of the LED industry is to make light-emitting chips, but this core technology is basically in the hands of companies in Europe, America, Japan, and Taiwan. Midstream It is packaging technology, and there are several companies in China that are doing well. Downstream is application, and a large number of companies are doing this. Because the cost has not yet dropped to a level that is generally acceptable to the public, and the entire industrial chain is in a saturated state. ”
Therefore, some domestic LED companies have set their sights on the industry segment market. Take poultry farming as an example. In addition to Longtuo Technology, there are several domestic companies in Shenzhen, Shandong, and Harbin that are focusing on this market.
“Now the most done is still in the breeding industry, such as poultry, plant lighting, and aquatic products. Most of them are still in the research stage, and there are not many large-scale industrialization.” Jiang Jinsong said.
